+++23. Black International Cinema Berlin from 05.08.-05.12.08 at the Moviemento cinema+++
The 23. "Black International Cinema Berlin" festival will be presented from May 8-12, 2008 at the Moviemento cinema with a number of films, film discussions, performances, podium discussions and seminars under this years motto "DIVERSE & TOGETHER - A Complexion Change".
The focus of the festival are films from Africa, the African Diaspora and those films dealing with various intercultural backgrounds and perspectives regarding the festival theme. The festival offers the possibility to experience exciting documentaries and narratives combined with a scientific and artistic program.
Incredibly, the 23. edition of the independent Berlin festival “Black International Cinema Berlin” will occur from May 8-12.
For the first time the festival will guest at the Moviemento cinema, the oldest cinema in Germany, and famous for a selective and special program. This year the festival concentrates on films regarding intercultural dialogue in society focusing on the theme “DIVERSE & TOGETHER - A Complexion Change”. For Prof. Donald Muldrow Griffith and Prof. Gayle McKinney Griffith, directors of the festival, migration is an explosive and current theme and they raise the question: “How do we respond to the inevitabilities of population change, clash or cooperation? Regarding this theme the festival will offer within its special atmosphere, a platform for information and discussion.
The festival was founded 1986 in Berlin. It is produced by Fountainhead® Tanz Theatre, which is directed by two US-American artists Donald Muldrow Griffith (awarded New York City Off-Broadway actor, dancer, singer and producer) and the former prima ballerina Gayle McKinney Griffith.
With the best wishes, Iris Praefke
