TRES COLORES DEL TIEMPO /
THREE COLORS OF TIME

Directors: Galina Likosova
& Hernán Humberto Restrepo
Documentary, Color, 59 min.
Colombia 2011
Spanish with English subtitles

Luis Carlos Figueroa (born 1923, Cali) had been in a depressive condition brought about by his job, soul and health problems. He wouldn't leave his house, nor answer the telephone and didn't play the piano.
In 2001, the INTERDIS group of the National University of Colombia in Medellín proposed to make a documentary about his life and works. During the first records, he remained skeptical, negative and monosyllabic. He didn't smile.
The next year, a few changes were noticed in his behavior. He was more available and held more dynamic conversations. During this time, he revealed important details about his artistic and personal life: from his musical trail and journeys around the world, to his close friendship with his professor, a musician and composer from Cali, Antonio Maria Valencia, who was a very important person in his life.
But the biggest change was seen in 2004: He told stories non stop, traveled to Medellín, to Popayan, visited his friends and the most important thing, he improvised melancholic and amazing music on every single piano during his journey.
"The greatest stimulation a musician can have is when his music is played."

Luis Carlos Figueroa (geb.
